My Professional Journey

ABOUT

A career in international development is rarely a straight line. It is a sequence of perspectives, transitions, and meaningful steps.

Seeing development from all sides of the table.

Over the years, I have seen international development from many sides of the table. I have been the student trying to understand the sector, the intern looking for that first meaningful opportunity, the researcher working with evidence, the data professional supporting decision-making, and the programme professional managing projects, partnerships, stakeholders and results.

From Delhi to Geneva, across the
United Nations system.

My journey has taken me from Delhi to Geneva and across organisations including the International Trade Centre (UN/WTO), International Organisation for Migration, World Health Organisation and UNESCO-International Bureau of Education. Today, my work spans programme management, monitoring and evaluation, partnerships, research, data, stakeholder engagement and communications with experience across trade, entrepreneurship, women and youth empowerment.

The breadth of this experience has shown me how many different routes can lead to a career in international development.

I know what it is like to look at this sector from the outside and wonder where you fit. The terminology is confusing. Job descriptions can feel overwhelming. Similar roles have completely different titles. Entry routes are rarely explained clearly, and it can seem as though everyone already knows a system that nobody actually teaches you.

I had to learn that system by navigating it myself.

From early internships and research opportunities in Delhi, to pursuing my Master’s in Development Studies at the Geneva Graduate Institute, to working with international organisations and eventually contributing to programmes across countries, each stage taught me something different about building a career in this field.

International Development
A Lot Easier
